I've done this lesson a couple of times already and the results have been great; this class was no exception!
Observational drawing of kiwifruit is the starting point then a design is developed by extending, exaggerating and simplifying the original drawing (see process below).
The next step was to draw their final design onto a polystyrene print block. The background paper was then prepared by drawing around the print block and some divided further. We talked about potential colour schemes and I gave the children a lot of freedom to be inventive with a wall of colour (bright works well)
Once these were dry, the children then inked up their print block and did multiple prints over their painted background.
